Inteligencia artificial y salud mental: análisis de su tratamiento informativo en los medios españoles (1996-2025)

Resumen

Propósito. La inteligencia artificial (IA) es una herramienta destacada en el ámbito de la salud mental, un campo de gran impacto social. Partiendo de la teoría del framing, el objetivo del estudio es examinar cómo retratan esta tecnología relacionada con la salud mental los medios de comunicación de España, donde más de un tercio de la población padece algún trastorno de este tipo.  Metodología. Se ha llevado a cabo un análisis de contenido de 703 textos, publicados entre 1996 y 2025 en 1.573 medios. El estudio analiza qué tipos de IA y de trastornos mentales son los que más aparecen reflejados, desde qué frames se contempla la IA y qué estrategias discursivas se ponen en práctica para hacerla llegar a la sociedad. Resultados y conclusiones. El chatbot es el tipo de IA más frecuente en los textos analizados y la depresión y la ansiedad, los trastornos más cubiertos. Asimismo, seis de cada diez textos se enfocan hacia los aspectos positivos de la IA, especialmente en la mejora en las predicciones y el diagnóstico de los trastornos mentales. No obstante, a partir de 2023, tras la popularización global de ChatGPT, la visión de la IA se vuelve más crítica. Aportación original. Hasta el momento, no se ha publicado ninguna investigación nacional o internacional sobre el tratamiento informativo de la IA en relación con la salud mental. Se trata, además, de un estudio longitudinal, que abarca varias décadas y miles de medios, lo que permite analizar la evolución en su cobertura.
